Modern Tools for More Comfortable, Precise Dental Care

At Cherrywood Dental Care, we believe that great dentistry combines clinical expertise with modern technology. By using advanced digital tools and imaging systems, our team can diagnose problems more accurately, plan treatments with greater precision, and create restorations that fit comfortably and look natural.

Today’s dental technology allows many procedures to be completed more efficiently, more comfortably, and with better long-term outcomes. From detailed 3-D imaging to digital scanning and in-office restoration design, these technologies help us deliver personalized care that is tailored to your unique smile.

Below are some of the advanced technologies we use to support your oral health.

Digital Dental Scanners

Many dental procedures traditionally required messy impression materials to capture the shape of your teeth. Today, digital scanners allow us to create highly accurate digital models of your smile without the need for traditional impressions.

Using a small handheld scanning device, we can capture detailed images of your teeth and gums in just minutes. These digital impressions are comfortable for patients and provide extremely precise data for treatment planning.

Digital scans are used for many procedures, including:

  • Crowns and restorations
  • Night guards and oral appliances
  • Orthodontic planning
  • Smile design and treatment planning

Because these scans are stored digitally, they also allow us to easily monitor changes in your teeth and oral health over time.

CAD/CAM Fillings and Restorations

Digital technology allows us to design and fabricate other restorations using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing).

CAD/CAM technology allows restorations to be digitally designed for precise fit and long-term durability. These restorations may include:

  • Tooth-colored fillings
  • Inlays and onlays
  • Crowns and other custom restorations

By using digital planning and fabrication, restorations can be created with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.

3-D Digital Treatment Planning with Exocad

Advanced treatment planning software allows us to design dental restorations digitally before they are created. One of the systems used in modern dental labs and digital dentistry is Exocad, a powerful digital design platform.

With 3-D treatment planning software, we can:

  • Design crowns and restorations digitally
  • Plan implant placement with precision
  • Customize restorations for each patient’s anatomy
  • Improve communication with dental labs and specialists

Digital planning allows us to visualize the final outcome before treatment begins, helping ensure restorations are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

3-D Printing Technology

One of the most exciting advancements in modern dentistry is in-office 3-D printing. At Cherrywood Dental Care, we utilize the SprintRay Pro 95 S 3-D printer, which allows us to create certain dental appliances and restorations directly in our office.

3-D printing technology allows us to fabricate custom dental devices quickly and accurately based on digital scans of your teeth.

This technology can be used to create:

  • Custom night guards
  • Certain dental crowns
  • Dental models used for treatment planning
  • Orthodontic or appliance components

By producing these items in-house, we can often reduce wait times and provide appliances that are precisely tailored to your smile.

3-D Printed Night Guards and Crowns

Night guards are commonly recommended for patients who grind or clench their teeth, a condition known as bruxism. Traditional night guards are made using physical impressions and laboratory fabrication, but digital technology allows us to design and print custom guards with exceptional accuracy.

Using digital scans and 3-D printing, we can create night guards that:

  • Fit comfortably and securely
  • Protect teeth from grinding damage
  • Reduce strain on the jaw joints
  • Support long-term oral health

Similarly, some restorations such as crowns can be digitally designed and fabricated using advanced digital workflows, helping ensure an accurate fit and efficient treatment process.

CEREC Same-Day Digital Crowns

In the past, receiving a dental crown often required multiple visits and temporary restorations. With CEREC digital crown technology, many patients can receive a custom crown in a single appointment.

CEREC combines digital scanning, computer-aided design, and precision milling technology to create restorations that fit your tooth precisely.

The process typically includes:

  1. Digital scanning of the tooth
  2. Computer-aided design of the crown
  3. Fabrication of the restoration using digital milling technology
  4. Placement of the final crown during the same visit

Because the crown is designed using digital technology, it can be crafted to match the shape, color, and function of your natural teeth.

Cone Beam CT (CBCT) and 3-D Dental Imaging

Traditional dental X-rays provide valuable information, but they only show a two-dimensional view of your teeth and jaw. Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) takes dental imaging to the next level by creating highly detailed 3-D images of the teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures.

This advanced imaging technology allows us to evaluate areas that cannot be fully seen with standard X-rays.

CBCT imaging can help with:

  • Dental implant planning
  • TMJ and jaw joint evaluation
  • Diagnosing infections or bone loss
  • Evaluating impacted teeth
  • Assessing airway and sinus structures
  • Planning complex dental treatments

The three-dimensional images produced by CBCT allow for more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning, helping ensure procedures are performed with greater precision.

Guided Biofilm Therapy

Preventive care is just as important as restorative treatments. One of the advanced technologies used in modern dental hygiene is Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT).

Biofilm is the thin layer of bacteria that naturally forms on teeth and gums. When biofilm accumulates, it can contribute to cavities, gum disease, and inflammation.

Guided Biofilm Therapy uses advanced technology to:

  • Identify bacterial biofilm on the teeth
  • Remove biofilm gently and thoroughly
  • Improve the effectiveness of preventive cleanings

This approach often results in more comfortable dental cleanings while supporting better long-term oral health.

Technology That Supports Better Patient Care

Modern dental technology is not just about convenience—it helps improve the quality and precision of dental care. Digital imaging, advanced scanners, and 3-D design tools allow us to better understand each patient’s oral health and create treatment plans that are tailored to their needs.

At Cherrywood Dental Care, we invest in technologies that help us provide:

  • More accurate diagnoses
  • Comfortable dental experiences
  • Precise restorations
  • Efficient treatment timelines
  • Personalized patient care

Our goal is to combine advanced tools with compassionate care to help every patient achieve and maintain a healthy, confident smile.
