Costs of Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry has a wide range of procedures to help improve your smile! Unfortunately, dental insurance is not likely to cover any of the costs unless it is deemed medically necessary though some insurances have options for adult orthodontia. Depending on the extent of the restorations you want, the cost of treatment could range from a couple of hundred dollars to thousands.
Teeth Whitening
Using an in-office whitening treatment is a great way to quickly brighten your smile. It only takes about an hour and a half and costs about $250 to $500. There are at-home whitening options that are less costly but the results take longer. If you have the time, at-home whitening may be a great choice!
Porcelain or Ceramic Crowns
Crowns are used to restore a tooth that has either fractured or had extensive decay removed while saving as much tooth structure as possible. Crowns fit over the whole tooth to ensure the integrity of the tooth. Crowns made from porcelain or ceramic can be tinted to match the color of the rest of your teeth. Metals can be used as well and while metal is stronger, it cannot be tinted. Porcelain crowns range between $800 and $2,000 per tooth. Metal crowns vary depending upon the price of the metal. Crowns are more likely to be covered by insurance as they are not considered cosmetic.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are also made of porcelain and are thinner than crowns and do not cover the whole tooth. They can give your teeth a new shape and even correct some misalignment. Veneers cost between $900 and $2,000 per tooth. Veneers can last a lifetime with proper care.
Dental Bonding
Composite bonding is a less costly alternative to veneers and crowns and is also gives immediate results. Bonding costs between $150 and $500 per tooth. While it does provide faster results for less, bonding is not as strong as porcelain and will likely need to be replaced within a year or so.
Porcelain Dental Bridge
A bridge is used to restore an area that is missing a tooth. A crown is placed on the adjacent teeth with a fake tooth spanning the gap. A three-tooth bridge can cost up to $6,000.
Porcelain Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are fabricated the same as crowns but do not cover as much of the tooth surface. Inlays and onlays are used on the occlusal (biting) surface of the tooth and cost $650 to $900 per tooth.
Dental Implants
Like a bridge, implants replace a missing tooth. They are more costly and take a few months to complete. An implant is placed in the jaw bone and that portion can cost between $1,700 and $2,000. Once the implant has integrated and you are cleared for restoration, your dentist will place an abutment and implant crown wich will cost between $1,200 and $3,000.
Clear Aligner Therapy Orthodontia
Clear aligners are growing in popularity. ClearCorrect and Invisalign are a couple of the more popular brands. The aligners are used to gradually straighten teeth and a misaligned bite. Clear aligner therapy costs between $2,800 and $5,000.
